Walking in the love of God

God's will is love

[sc]“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” - John 13:34-35 [/sc]

Jesus speaks to His disciples and gave them a new commandment that they are to love one another. This commandment never existed before; this is a new instruction, wisdom and way of life as a believer. This is a fresh word that he gives to His disciples.

These are the disciples whom He taught to pray (Luke 11:1-2); they are the ones that asked Him to increase their faith (Luke 17:5); now he's teaching and commanding them to walk in love.
They saw the effectiveness of his prayer life, they witnessed the level of his overcoming faith and that caused them to request a change in their life. He mentored them in those areas of life and now he completes the process by teaching them to walk in love.

The amazing thing is that He told them to measure themselves to Him. They were to love as He loved them. God will never tell us to do something that he does not give us the ability to fulfill.
[sc]“…because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” - Romans 5:5[/sc]

The Holy Spirit breathes the life of God in us. He empowers us not only with His anointing and power, but also with the perfect love of God. He has set things in motion in order for us to be able to be as He wants us to be. This indicates that Jesus walked in love.
[sc]“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” - 1John 4:8[/sc]

Everything that Jesus did was out of love. He taught, ministered, healed, delivered and reached out in love. Love was His way of living. Love was and is His being.

You have to understand that these disciples were from different background and upbringing and had different ways of seeing things and speaking. They were at a different level in life, some were educated and others were not. Some had good jobs whereas others may have come without any previous employment record. Some had good character and attitude while some needed help in that area. Nonetheless, He commanded that they love one another even as He did, without any prejudice, racism or discrimination and injustice.

His love was not based on emotions. He did not love people because He had a good night rest or because he felt good at that time therefore he decided to be motivated and took some correct actions for those people. NO! He is love and walked sincerely and genuinely. He was no gossiper nor held grudges neither treated people out of disrespect. They were to imitate and copy his behavior. They were to look to Him as a perfect example. He gave them the goal. They were not to measure themselves with their pass or how they were treated in their upbringing. They were to understand His principle and to apply it!

He tells them that by walking in love, all men will know that they are His disciples. It's not the miracles, the healing and the marvelous signs and wonders that will prove that they were disciples, but walking in love. Believers and unbelievers will be able to tell that one was a disciple of Jesus because of their differences in action, attitude and conduct. God's love should be the distinguishing mark of every believer. The only Jesus the world will see is the one in you and me as disciples.

This is call character building. Through the word of God we receive revelation of who we are in Christ. In it we find wisdom that correct and instruct us and help us make right decisions. We obtain impartation of Him so that we change from glory to glory. Today people judge by the gifts that God, by His grace, has bestowed upon us, but God looks to the heart and judges by fruits.
[sc]“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” - Matt. 7:20[/sc]

We are to be discipline by the word and we are to walk in love. Unforgiveness, bitterness and offense indicates that we are not walking in love. In fact, this grieves the Holy Spirit.
[sc]“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers; And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice; And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. – Ephe. 4:29-32[/sc]

These are sins that not only grieve the Holy Spirit but are weights on our lives. They overload us and hinder us to progress and success. They'll cause a failure in relationships, marriage, ministry and management. These are the excess baggage that brings disappointments and causes us to never soar through life.

[sc]“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” – Heb.12:1[/sc]

The Word of God clearly teaches us that only love never fail. So, to be successful in life, take Jesus at His word and walk in love. It's not His advice but His commandment to us.
